Thrift Store

THRIFT STORE OVERVIEW

The Thrift Store is open to the public and offers resale items that have been donated by supporters of WRC. Clothing, home furnishings, books and other items are available at bargain prices. In 1998, WRC opened our Thrift Store to help meet the needs of clients as they rebuild their lives after domestic violence and sexual assault. Our community has always supported us through donations of new and used items, understanding many clients are fleeing from abusive situations leaving with nothing but the clothes on their back.

Beginning May 16th, the thrift store will be open Sundays! We will not be taking donations on Sundays at this time, but will be open for shopping from 10am-4pm.

REBUILDING LIVES WITH THE THRIFT STORE

Throughout their journey our client’s need appropriate clothes for employment, job-seeking, attending school, or household items for their apartment in our Transitional house program. As we all know people across the country donate using garbage bags, this resulted in our families having to sort through piles of clothing in search of something close to their size. WRC believed having a thrift store where we provide our families with vouchers that are used “same as cash” to shop, dignified their experience and helped return independence, by putting them back in control with the opportunity to select clothing and other items that would best suit their needs.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE WITH YOUR DONATIONS

The Thrift Store also generates funds for the operation of WRC’s additional services by selling resale items that have been donated by supporters of WRC to the public. Clothing, home décor, books, jewelry and other items are available at bargain prices. Your donations are incredibly important to providing free shopping for clients in need, but also raising meaningful funds to support our agency as whole.

If you are a client and you need assistance with clothing vouchers please call our hotline and speak with a case manager (760) 757-3500.
