SEXUAL ASSAULT COUNSELING PROGRAM

WRC sexual assault counseling focuses on:

  • Developing coping strategies to manage and reduce trauma symptoms.
  • Restoring a sense of safety, control over one’s life and renewing hope for the future.
  • Understanding strength and capacity for healing
  • Reducing feelings of guilt, anxiety and self blame.

ADULTS MOLESTED AS CHILDREN

It’s never too late to start healing from the abuse experienced. Some survivors keep the abuse a secret for many years. They may have tried to tell an adult and met with resistance or felt there was no one they could trust. For these reasons and many others, the effects of sexual abuse can occur many years after the abuse has ended.
