FRIENDS OF WRC'S MISSION
FRIENDS OF WRC PROGRAM
Established in 2006 “Friends of WRC” members enhance the agency’s ability to provide quality services and enjoyable activities for the children living at the shelter and transitional house. We understand children are often the silent victims of domestic violence, and we strive to create a sense of normalcy while they receive life changing and many times life-saving services at WRC.
2018 HAVE A HEART LUNCHEON
“Have A Heart” February 2018 was a huge success and we have our members, sponsors, donors and guests to thank for it. We are so appreciative of the support and generosity that generated over $8,000 to benefit the children that reside in WRC’s housing facilities. We are looking forward to next year’s event!
As we’ve stated before, the funds will primarily be used for the upgrade and beautification of the transitional housing playground and to add to the children’s counseling budget. Thanks to you, our work of providing the children of WRC with positive, enriching, and memorable experiences will continue in 2018.
Be on the lookout for information on future Friends events!

HOW DOES FRIENDS HELP?
Friends’ holds two major fundraisers a year: Have a Heart Luncheon in February, and an online fundraising campaign to send all the kids at the Transitional House to a summer camp of their choice. Monies raised from these events have provided the following:
FRIENDS CONTINUES TO GROW WITH OVER 100 ACTIVE MEMBERS AND A VERY INVOLVED STEERING COMMITTEE.
WHAT DOES BEING A MEMBER OF FRIENDS INVOLVE?
There are two levels of support: active Steering Committee Membership & General Membership support. For example: the Steering Committee structures fund raising events to raise money to build the “Fun Fund” and distribute the monies raised, as directed by WRC. Participating in the Steering Committee is “hands on” and we always welcome new energy & ideas! For further information about being a Steering Committee member, please call: 760-757-3500.
Participating as a “General Member” involves attending our fundraising events and renewing a minimal, annual membership fee.
