The Spirit of Giving has been a part of WRC for over ten years and is a favorite event of the staff. The event is all about the children at WRC and providing them with treasured holiday memories. During that event WRC will provide approximately 100-115 families with all the makings for a Happy Holidays. This years event will be held on Saturday, December 14th, 2024.
With help from supporter’s donations, WRC will have the parents choose 3 new toys for each child and they are wrapped by an amazing group of volunteers. For the harder to shop for teens, each is given a $25 gift card to Target and 2 items from the gift room. It is such a rewarding time to allow these families an opportunity they wouldn’t otherwise have. The family will be gifted a $50 gift card to purchase all the makings for their holiday dinner and breakfast from a local grocer.
For the children in the family the Spirit of Giving is like one big Christmas Party. We have a separate area that they spend their time meeting Santa, creating holiday crafts, playing games, and eating holiday goodies. They are not left out of the gift giving we have a special room full of cozy and festive gifts to choose from for their parents. The time and thought each of them take to make sure it is the perfect gift is precious.
