Celebrating Generosity, Giving Back

We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
It’s a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Join us and be a part of a global celebration of a new tradition of generosity.
WRC is so excited to be a part of this amazing push to create a culture of giving. We know everyone gets busy around the Holiday season so here are 3 simple ways you can give back to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
1. Your Time
Our volunteers are the heart of our agency, we could not do what we do each day without their dedication. Arnita Moore is our amazing Volunteer Coordinator, if you are interested in giving your time through our many volunteer opportunities such as client advocacy, fundraising events or working at our resale store we always welcome support! 2. Invest
WRC believes all people deserve to live a life free from the crimes of domestic violence and sexual assault. We absolutely cannot serve the 6,000 families a year needing a safe place to live without your help. Together we believe we can rebuild the lives affected by these horrific crimes. Even $5.00 can help a survivor with bus passes to get to job interviews, doctors appointments or other important resources to ensure they continue their healing process and move towards self-sufficiency. When our client’s hear that community members and leaders are willing to invest in their families future safety and happiness they are filled with gratitude.
3. Support Our Annual “Spirit of Giving” Holiday Event!
Each year WRC has an annual holiday event for all of our client’s and local Oceanside community. This year we have already signed up 120 families that need holiday support. Each family will get Thanksgiving and Christmas groceries to take home and make a holiday meal with their families. On December 12th WRC’s office turns into a toy store where all the children meet Santa, pick out gifts for their parents, do arts and crafts and eat lots of treats! All the while each parent picks 3 gifts for each child. It is an amazing day that is filled with the giving spirit.
